Summary

Micro Machines (1991) shrank racing down to tabletop size and somehow made breakfast tables more dangerous than Silverstone. Tiny cars tore across desks, gardens, bathtubs, and other household hazards where pencils became barriers and a puddle could end your dignity. The top-down view kept everything frantic, while tight corners and sudden obstacles rewarded quick reactions and ruthless blocking. Multiplayer was where it really came alive, turning every race into miniature warfare. Simple to learn, hard to master, and wonderfully mischievous, Micro Machines proved small cars could cause very big arguments.

What it does well

Inventive tracks, sharp controls, brilliant multiplayer, charming presentation, and racing that stayed fast, funny, and fiercely competitive.

Where it falls short

Some tracks felt unforgiving, visibility could be tricky, and solo play lacked the multiplayer version's glorious arguments.

Verdict

A brilliantly playful racer that turned household clutter into racetracks and multiplayer rivalry into miniature-scale warfare.
